Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at Instructional Farm of Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad during Kharif season 2012 to evaluate the effect of sources and split application of phosphorus on dry matter accumulation, nutrients uptake and soil properties under partially reclaimed salt affected soil. The experiment comprised of seven treatments i.e. (T₁) control, (T₂) 60 kgP₂O₅ ha^-1 basal through DAP, (T₃) 45 kg basal +15 kg P₂O₅ ha^-1 at tillering through DAP, (T₄) 30 kg basal+15 kg P₂O₅ ha^-1 through DAP, (T₅) 60 kg P₂O₅ ha^-1 basal through SSP, (T₆ ) 45 kg basal + 15 kg P₂O₅ ha^-1 in Randomized Block Design replicated thrice. The rice variety NDR-359 was taken as test crop. Among sources of phosphatic fertilizer viz., single super phosphate and diammonium phosphate, single superphosphate were found more effective over diammonium phosphate with respect of dry matter accumulation, phosphorus uptake, EC, pH, OC and available nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in soil.

Abstract

An investigation was conducted to ascertain the properties of the soils of Rainfed Research Sub-station for Sub-tropical fruits, Raya. Soil properties i.e. pH, electric conductivity (EC), organic carbon (OC) and available NPK in soils of various fruit blocks of the research farm of Raya, district Samba. During study, it was observed that the different fruit block of the soil properties and available nutrients was more in the variation of surface soils (0-15 cm). Soil properties and available N, phosphorus and K parameters ranged between pH (6.50-7.56), EC (0.03-0.15 dSm^-1), Organic Carbon (1.8-5.8 g ha^-1), available N (125-260 Kg ha^-1), available phosphorus (10.80-18.10 Kg ha^-1) and available K (126-158 Kg ha^-1) in different fruit block of the research farm.

Abstract

Investigation was carried out on twenty genotypes of chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) and evaluated for stability studies for quality traits in four different environments created by planting material at two different dates of planting and each date of planting had two doses of N-fertilizer during April, 2005. Significant mean squares for quality traits indicated wide genotypic variability among the genotypes. The environmental component was significant for colouring matter and non-significant for dry matter content. Genotypes Suraj Mukhi, Local-6 and Punjab Lal were found suitable for growing under unfavourable conditions for dry matter content. BC-30 had maximum colouring matter followed by CH-1 and S-2530.
